Thank you for your interest in joining Shine Youth Music Theatre – one of the UK’s largest children’s and youth theatre companies based in Carluke, Lanarkshire. There are 2 companies within Shine: SHINE KIDS for P3-7 & SHINE for S1-6, college/university students, adults
We rehearse throughout the year (except July) and stage 2 productions annually in Motherwell Concert Hall & Theatre as well as productions in The Lighthouse, our own studio theatre.
We rehearse in our purpose-built studios and arts centre, The Lighthouse, Neidpath Road, Carluke, ML8 5UF.
To join us, applicants must attend two workshops and an audition. This will allow us to get to know you and give you the experience of what being a member of Shine is about. You will be taught everything you need to know for your audition – singing, dancing, acting. You must be able to attend both workshops as follows:
Tuesday 18th April 6.00-8.00pm Audition workshop
Sunday 23rd April 11.00am-1.00pm Audition workshop
Tuesday 25th April 6.00pm Auditions
Following attendance at both workshops, you will then audition on Tuesday 25th April (individual time slots from 6.00pm). If you are successful in gaining a place you will appear in one or more of our new productions and your first rehearsal will be on Sunday 30th April.
Our main rehearsals are on Sundays with each company rehearsing for a minimum of 2 hours. We rehearse with smaller groups / main cast, etc. on Tuesday evenings. Our current rehearsal times are normally as follows:
11.00am or 1.00pm on Sundays
6.00pm on Tuesdays
You should wear loose, comfortable clothing and trainers or soft dance shoes. Our Coffee Bar will be open selling a selection of hot & cold drinks, toasties, soup, sweets, and snacks. Please bring your own water bottle.
Workshops and auditions are free. If you are successful in gaining a place, all members pay an annual membership fee (£25.00 per month) and a production fee (£160.00 upfront for Motherwell Concert Hall productions or £90 for Lighthouse productions).
